Assistant High Commission of India in Rajshahi and Rajshahi City Corporation jointly organized a cleanliness drive as part of Government of India’s ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 9.30 am at Shaheed A.H.M. Kamruzzaman Central Park & Zoo. Panel Mayor, Councillors and Officials of Rajshahi City Corporation, Rajshahi Zoo, Assistant High Commission of India and around 150 volunteers from several organizations including BD Clean participated in the event. Paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi, Assistant High Commissioner, Shri Sanjeev Kumar Bhati mentioned the details of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign and how it was launched by Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi to accelerate the efforts to achieve universal cleanliness. Shri Bhati also highlighted the need to make cleanliness as a general civic habit and how the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign resonates with the ongoing initiative of Rajshahi City Corporation in keeping the Rajshahi City clean and green. Apart from cleaning the Zoo premises, 400 saplings of trees were also planted on the occasion which was widely covered by the local media personnel present there.
